What to see and do in Somerset
One of the best things about The Old Stables is that we’re beautifully situated on the edge of The Mendip Hills (AONB). Here you can explore the very best of Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire, including Bath, Wells, various National Trust properties and gardens, Longleat, and more! Walkers are spoiled for choice with the miles of wonderful walks on our doorstep.
There is so much to see and do that we couldn’t possibly cover it all here! But here are some of our personal recommendations of what to see and do whilst you are in our beautiful county.
Bath
You wouldn’t think of Somerset without Bath coming to mind – a city so beautiful and special that it has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walk through history at the Roman Baths, celebrate Jane Austen, one of Bath’s most famous residents, enjoy the stunning Georgian architecture or pamper yourself at the Bath Thermae Spa – bliss!
National Trust Properties
There is so much to see and do you will find something to keep everyone happy! If you’re looking for National Trust properties to explore then you are definitely in the right place! In Somerset there’s everything from Tudor houses and hidden gardens to tors, gorges and natural piers. Barrington Court, Brean Down, Tyntesfield, Stourhead and of course the iconic Tor in Glastonbury are our must-visits.
